Distribution Manager

Position Summary: 

We are currently looking for a Distribution Manager for our St. Louis MO facility.

The Distribution Manager will report to the general manager. This role will play a vital part in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of product.  This role is crucial for linking production with customers, influencing the bottom through strategic management and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage delivery logistic to maximize efficiency and consistent on-time deliveries.
  • Direct, optimize, and coordinate full order cycle.
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.
  • Track quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.

Position Requirements:

  • Arrange warehouse, plan routes and process shipments.
  • Resolve any arising problems or complaints related to distribution.
  • Supervise, coach, and train warehouse workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Proactive approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis and conclude with process improvement recommendations
  • Prefer Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), as classified by State Law, or capable of obtaining CDL.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on positive listening behavior and a demonstrated bias for action.
  • Effective verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly with Customers and our Sales Team to resolve any challenge and or issue needing immediate attention.
  • Excellent written communication skills for record-keeping, reports and client interaction.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Moderate level of technology understanding.  Must be familiar with Microsoft applications and have the ability to learn other software applications as applicable. (Word, Excel, ERP/MRP System requirements).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • 2 – 3 years proven experience as a distribution manager or in a similar managerial role.
  • Current or prior CDL license a plus
  • Logistics brokerage or sales experience
  • Transportations Manager System (TMS) experience a plus

  • Supervise production personnel to maintain required productivity and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Monitor CBW’s, dryers, and washer/extractors to maintain correct lading sequence in order to attain maximum productivity and washing     performance from all equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager regarding anticipated potential bottle-neck areas.
  • Develop and train operators of all equipment to ensure consistent performance.
  • Document and record associate production, time, safety incidents, absenteeism, and corrective actions promptly and accurately.
  • Communicates, implements, and monitors safety programs and procedures.
  • Participates in and leads safety meetings and ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Identifies safety improvements and leads and enforces safety standards.
  • Fosters a team environment by promoting open channels of communication, building commitment to a common vision, and establishing and maintaining positive communication with employees; implementing proactive measures to ensure positive associate relations to maintain a union-free environment.
  • Prepare work schedules for production employees and provide daily work assignments.
  • Assists the Operations Manager in directing the overall operation of the plant, performing special projects as needed.
  • Responsible for plant productivity, including involvement in goal setting for the plant, and execution of plant production goals.
  • Assist and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  •  Laundry experience preferred
  •  Basic computer knowledge and the willingness to learn new computer applications.
  •  Experience with employee relations and team building.
  •  Good analytical skills to be able to determine number of carts required for orders.
  •  3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or service industry with supervisory responsibilities.
  •  Ability to work in a noisy fast-paced environment.
  •  Ability to bend, stoop, push, stand, pull, and walk for long periods of time.
  •  Ability to lift moderately heavy objects up to 35 lbs.
  •  Ability to analyze cost performance data to improve operations and reduce costs.
  •  Willingness to work evenings, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  •  Must be comfortable at giving and receiving open feedback.
