PFS BRANDS HQ UTILIZES UPSKILLING FOR RETENTION AND INTERNAL PROMOTIONS
PFSbrands, nationally headquartered in Holts Summit, is the parent company of food brands such as Champs Chicken, BluTaco, and Hangar 54 Pizza. The company is 100% employee-owned, with over 1,500 branded locations located in over 40 states. PFSbrands has experienced evolving product needs and technological advancements in its industry. The company is also growing rapidly, requiring challenges to be addressed from within. In response to all of these changes, PFSbrands turned to training to help foster a culture that can adapt and grow along with the foodservice industry.
Thanks to State Tech and funding from Missouri One Start, PFSbrands was able to continue focusing on building its culture and hiring the right individuals for available positions. The company has been able to add second shifts to its facilities and looks to add a third within the next 12 to 18 months. PFSbrands has also retained its current workforce by developing each employee’s skill set and promoting from within.
In the last year, the company has trained 100 employees in various positions and skills, such as quality control, equipment basics, warehouse management, lean manufacturing, new processes, business analytics, business financials, and process documentation.
All in all, PFSbrands provided its employees with more than 1,000 training sessions across topics such as lean manufacturing skills, machine operator training, industrial safety, food quality training, communication, leadership training, warehouse training, supervisory training, quality assurance, software training, maintenance, food safety and train the trainer
As a result, employees have been promoted into leader roles and other positions within the company. It has also created efficiencies and provided a safer work environment.
“Continuous learning and development helps companies grow. Without each of these pieces, brands can stay stagnant,” said Carla Dowden, Senior Vice President of People Success at PFSbrands.
“We appreciate our partnerships with State Tech and Missouri One Start and look forward to continuing to win together!”
This company is employee-owned. I wonder if any of their training is geared to teaching the employees about business? Amanda worked there for a while. Maybe she knows. It might help us flesh this out a bit so it’s not so short. We did a Success Story on them not too long ago. You might check the Press Room so we’re not repeating ourselves.
