The Associate Nurse, working under close supervision, is responsible for supporting Physicians and managers including assisting physicians in administering treatments, physical examinations, initial injury intake and triage, and diagnostic tests, and performing other basic medical care functions with diligence and consistency on time. The role supports the administration of company policies and procedures related to the maintenance of the medical recordkeeping system, including employee health records, medical leave of absence, etc. with required levels of accuracy and confidentiality and in compliance with relevant Federal and State regulations as well as in compliance with Ford Company standards and policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll do…
You will serve in a key role within our Manufacturing area as you provide a wide range of occupational and clinical support. You will:
- Supports managers by providing administrative support for providing health services and programs to the company employees in offices/plant locations including recording observations, assessments, findings, and treatments, with diligence and consistency in a timely manner in compliance with established company policies and processes.
- Assists specialists with the preparation of documentation for day-to-day responsibilities such as patient assessments, nursing care plans, patient education materials, etc., as per established practices, procedures, and processes.
- Supports tasks associated with the routine administration of nursing tasks associated with medical screenings and tests, such as pre-employment medical examinations, fitness for duty tests, return to work assessments, or other specific health assessments required for certain job roles. Assists specialists with the collection of appropriate samples from patients and with venipuncture, hearing, and vision screening, and associated clinical procedures.
- Supports specialists and managers in monitoring patient vitals and behaviors, and reports observations to senior nursing and medical staff. Supports senior nurses and physicians in formulating effective responses for medical emergencies of moderate complexity that may happen on the company premises/plants such as accidents, injuries, sudden illnesses, etc. as per established policies and procedures, identifies roadblocks if any, and effectively brings them to the managers’ attention.
- Supports specialists and managers for the preparation of Health-specific communications related to the Nursing function including health screenings and check-up reminders, medication compliance reminders, information on health screenings results, rehabilitation programs information for employees recovering from injuries, etc. as per established policies, procedures, and processes to provide patient-centered care with empathy, kindness, and professionalism.
- Supports specialists and managers with the consistent implementation of company policies and procedures related to administering medications and managing medication protocols for employees who require regular treatment or have chronic health conditions and assisting employees with rehabilitation services after work-related injuries to facilitate a safe return to work. Responds to patients’ needs for socialization.
- Supports specialists and managers with the maintenance of accurate and confidential records and data including employee medical histories, medical leaves of absence, treatment plans, and follow-up care in electronic medical records/systems. Supports preparation of internal team reports and analytics to monitor Nursing trends as per established reporting formats and templates.
- Supports specialists with the maintenance of a compliance library for the Nursing team keeping track of all relevant regulatory developments around protecting the privacy and confidentiality of patients’ medical information, infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, accreditation Standards, etc. by date.
- Supports specialists with the preparation of equipment for emergency procedures adhering to infection control practices, including cleaning and decontaminating equipment as required as per established protocols.
- Process Clinical Records, Medical Leaves of Absence and Short-Term Medical Absences (return to work from short term absence)
- Open, extend and close medical leaves
- Conduct Medical Examinations
- Conduct Fitness-for-Duty
- Handle RTW from medical leave absence and process reinstatements
- Conduct Medical Surveillance
- Schedule appointments for examinations
- Complete examinations and preliminary exam elements
- Manage Physical Examinations, Audiometric Testing, Pulmonary Function Testing and Respirator Fit Testing
- Work all shifts (days, Monday-Friday) and rotate to off shifts as needed, weekends as needed
Schedules may vary: 5:00 am – 3:30 pm, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, 5:00 pm – 3:30 am EDT
QUALIFICATIONS
You’ll have…
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- 2+ years of experience in areas as urgent care, critical care, emergency room, adult medical/surgical nursing
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience
- Unrestricted license in the State of Missouri

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience
- Occupational health experience
- Case management experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Knowledge of and experience with Pulmonary Function Testing and Audiometric Testing
- One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
