POSITION SUMMARY

Background

  • Works under general direction of the Engineering Manager in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
  • Broad responsibility to provide technical oversight and leadership for all phases of project planning, development and execution.

Tasks

  • Plan, develop, coordinate and direct a variety of complex engineering projects (including project scope, preliminary budget, schedule, task lists, measures and goals).
  • Create process flow diagrams in conjunction with Process and Production Engineers to layout process equipment in the most efficient and effective way possible.
  • Design facility retrofits and new manufacturing areas that comply with Food Safety and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) standards.
  • Coordinate the modeling, detailed design, and construction drawings in coordination with BIM (3D design) group.
  • Oversee and coordinate the construction and installation of projects with outside contractors and Jost’s in-house tradesmen.
  • Prepare cost estimates and project schedules to deliver completed projects on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with in-house engineering, maintenance, operations and quality departments to ensure optimal design and minimal construction interference with daily operations.
  • Ability and willingness to work on a variety of projects; utilities, technical (e.g. process based, building modifications, etc.).
  • Develop/ modify technical guidelines, standards, and specifications in the area of specialty.
  • Represent the Company in communication with other organizations (vendors/contractors) to resolve questions, plan and coordinate work.
  • Keep abreast of new methods and developments to recommend increased efficiencies, functionality, and reliability upgrades to existing and future facilities and systems.
  • Perform all operations according to prescribed safety principles.
  • Perform all projects under Jost’s Management of Change processes. Specifications
  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of project engineering experience in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to deliver project-based results

Knowledge of:

  1. Theories, principles, methods and procedures of engineering (Advanced Level) o Mathematics and statistics (Advanced Level)
  2. MS Office software package

Skill in:

  • Strong chemical process knowledge and experience
  • Working effectively and efficiently on multiple projects at once
  • Effective, disciplined and demonstrated documentation with attention to detail
  • Working effectively independently and in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration between Quality, Safety and Engineering departments o Responding to rapidly changing demands

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Analyze complex project engineering problems and develop safe and creative solutions to improve manufacturing operations and facilities
  • Prioritize and plan work to meet schedules and deliver quality results in the committed time period
  • Design and manage projects
  • Identify, gather, coordinate, organize and analyze data o Exercise judgment while being insightful, logical and methodical
